The cyber law is contained in the information technology act,2000 which is the IT act and came into force on Oct 17, 2000.
Cybersecurity in India is the main legislation governing the cyberspace the information technology act which defines cybersecurity as protesting information, devices, equipment, computer resources, computer, communication devices
And the main role of cyber law is to protect the consumer from online fraud. They exist to prevent credit card theft, identity theft, and other online crimes
Fraud, forgery, theft, defamation, and mischief are part of cyberspace these all were addressed in the Indian penal code. Software, computer technology, mobile devices are the target of such crimes
Types of crime
· Harassment and start – these are prohibited over the internet as well
· Hacking – Hacking is the most common cybercrime they use other people’s id passwords for their wrongful work
· Cyberbullying - means teenagers harassing someone with the help of the internet, messages, or any other social media network. And if an adult did this then its called a cyberstalking
· Cyber terrorism –generally includes the well-planned attack strategies on government and corporate computer systems.
